What We Believe

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church is a part of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS). The LCMS teaches and responds to the love of the Triune God (The Trinity). We believe there is one true God who has revealed Himself through the Bible in three distinct persons: the Father, Creator of all that exists; Jesus Christ, the Son, who became human to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan; and the Holy Spirit, who creates faith through God’s Word and Sacraments (Holy Baptism and Holy Communion). This is the Holy Triune God or the Holy Trinity: tri meaning three and uno meaning one, thus the Holy Three-in-One. The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.

As Christians, we recognize that we are sinful by nature which makes us more prone to make sinful choices in our life. We need a merciful and loving God who is willing to forgive our sins and accept us as His forgiven children. We believe God showed His true love for us by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins, so we could receive forgiveness and become God’s own children. Through the Holy Spirit leading us in an understanding of His Word and who is actively influencing our daily lives, God works to establish a loving and caring relationship with us.

Jesus has called us to be His witnesses in spreading the Gospel to all people and serving others as He did. As faithful Christians, it is our response to Christ to live a life of love and service to others through the empowering of the Holy Spirit.

What is a "Lutheran?"

A Lutheran is a Christian who accepts and preaches the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three phrases: Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone.

  • Grace Alone: God loves the people of the world, even though they are sinful, rebel against Him and do not deserve His love. He sent Jesus, His Son, to love the unlovable and save the ungodly.
  • Faith Alone: By His suffering and death as the substitute for all people of all time, Jesus purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for them. Those who hear and believe this Good News have the eternal life that it offers. God creates faith in Christ and gives people forgiveness through Him.
  • Scripture Alone: The Bible is God’s inerrant and infallible Word, in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine.

Mission & Vision

The mission of Christ’s Church is given in Matthew 28:18-20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

  • Mission

The mission of Christ’s Church is given in Matthew 28:18-20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

  • Vision

We will equip followers of Jesus to be powerful witnesses of the Gospel through their everyday lives- in our homes, in our communities, in our nation, and around the world.

  • Love God

Discipleship begins with God’s Calling and claiming through Word & Sacrament. Worship is an outward mark of a disciple, as we regularly gather to receive God’s gifts, hear His Word, and are equipped and empowered to respond in love and devotion toward Him.

  • Love One Another

Discipleship is an ongoing life learning, serving, and gathering with other believers in Christ beyond worship. We love one another as we build up the Body of Christ in Christian Education; as we serve each other’s various needs; and, as we engage in life together in Christian fellowship and love.

  • Love Your Neighbor

Discipleship involves service to those outside of our fellowship. Such serviced involves assisting with material needs, displaying the love of God in our Christian living, and proclaiming the Gospel to those who do not know Jesus. Our neighbor includes those outside the Church – from members of our households, to individuals on the other side of the world.

Our Beliefs on

Baptism

Lutherans refer to Baptism as a "means of grace," or a way in which God pours out His gift of grace to His people. Because God is the one who does all the work of extending His forgiveness, washing us clean of all sin and guilt, then this means of grace is for all people, regardless of age or understanding. We would love the opportunity to talk with you about Baptizing you, your child/grandchild, or someone else you know. To see what the Bible says about Baptism, check out these passages: Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-16, Acts 2:37-39, Acts 16:30-34, and 1 Peter 3:18-22.
