About Our Sermon Series
Loaded Words
If you’re unfamiliar with tech lingo, you may find yourself lost when someone starts talking in depth about computers. If the extent of your medical vocabulary is from what you learned in a high school health science class years ago, you may find your head spinning when sitting in the doctor’s office hearing a diagnosis and treatment. If you grew up in a family focused on athletics, you may find yourself lost in musical terms or ballet phrases when your child is passionate for fine arts.
The fact is, words matter. Our understanding (or lack thereof) of the jargon for a particular field of study will have an impact one way or another. And the church is no exception.
Sometimes, people who have been in church awhile use language that is unfamiliar to new believers and unbelievers. Sometimes, even the Christians who use those words don’t fully or accurately understand the significance of the words they’re speaking; or, the words become so common that their meaning is lost, and we have a hard time explaining them.
In this six-week series, we will look at some of these Loaded Words which are sometimes frequently used yet easily misunderstood. Here are the upcoming Loaded Words we’ll be exploring:
October 2 - “Church”
October 9 - “Amen”
October 16 - “Righteous”
October 23 - “Kingdom”
October 30 - “Justification”
November 6 - “Sinner & Saint”
