Christmastime in the City

Advent marks an anticipation for the arrival of our Savior. He’s coming, but where? Location is a significant part of the Advent story. Jesus Christ doesn’t just simply appear on the scene; He comes to specific people in specific places with a specific purpose.

Piggybacking on the memorable line from the holiday tune “Silver Bells,” our Advent Sunday series Christmastime in the City takes worshippers on an Advent journey to four special destinations. Each is prophesied in the pages of the Old Testament, and each map dot finds its purpose fulfilled in the advent of Jesus.

As we explore each locale geographically, historically, prophetically, and through contemporary anthropology, we will find ourselves in the settings important to salvation’s story, discovering the most important place the Savior comes: to us.
