Turning the Page
A new year means a new opportunity to “turn the page.”
As we turn the calendar’s page, many have a goal to “turn the page” for their life, too. New habits, new attitudes, new experiences are envisioned with the hope of self-improvement and of writing a “better story” for one’s self. But just turning the page to a new calendar doesn’t mean our previous year’s concerns or troubles are magically gone.
Whether or not our resolutions are successful, we, as Christians, have reason to celebrate as we continue our Christmas season. For, "when the fullness of time had come..." God in Christ turned the page for us. Because of Jesus, our story has shifted, for we are no longer slaves but children of God!
As God’s dear children we can have a fresh start on our outlook for what God has for us each day—even as we continue to tread through our past. And to help guide us along the way, the Lord leads us through His Word. As we turn the pages of Scripture, we find hope and can better see our place in the larger story of God.
How will that story come to light in 2023? Only God knows. But let’s turn the page, together, and find out!
